SRM ENGINEER II/III

YOUR ROLE

This Engineer II/III will play a crucial role in an aerospace industrial facility by providing expertise across a number of solid rocket motor (SRM) design, test, and manufacturing domains.  During the growth phase of Evolution Space’s facility at Stennis Space Center, this position will also provide essential project and site oversight.  This is a permanent position that ultimately focuses on ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our production and testing activities. The successful candidate will help maintain business continuity, drive engineering improvements, and serve as critical personnel for Evolution’s hypersonic, spaceflight, and defense programs. 


Responsibilities:

 

Engineering: 

  • Design solid rocket motors, test equipment, and production shop aids and tooling for space and defense applications.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on solid rocket technology, ensuring technical excellence in production and testing processes. 

  • Provide guidance on engineering practices, quality control, and process improvements. 

 

Project & Site Management: 

  • Oversee site operations and contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects, aligning activities with company objectives. 

  • Coordinate with various departments (production, maintenance, logistics, etc.) to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. 

 

Compliance & Safety: 

  • Ensure all operations meet or exceed relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. 

  • Implement engineering best practices to promote a safe and efficient work environment. 

 

Resource & Process Management: 

  • Assist in managing site resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to achieve optimal operational efficiency. 

  • Recommend and implement improvements based on Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies. 

 

Stakeholder Communication: 

  • Act as a liaison between the site team and corporate leadership, ensuring transparent communication of project statuses, challenges, and successes. 

  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies as needed.

WE WANT TO KNOW

WHO YOU ARE

Qualifications:

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field). A Master’s degree is a plus. 

 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an engineering role, with direct exposure to solid rocket technology, aerospace vehicles, or a similar industrial setting.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and site oversight within a heavily regulated environment.

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • In-depth technical knowledge of solid rocket motor production and testing. 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 

  • Proven track record in driving process improvements and ensuring operational efficiency. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams. 

  • Familiarity with industry best practices and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma. 

 

Other: 

  • Must be able to work on-site full-time and be available for extended hours or weekends as missions dictate. 

  • Clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance may be required depending on the facility.
